Our target audience group of interest is 12-25 year olds, skewed more towards girls. Our secondary audiences include people outside this age range who are fans of the genre (indie pop), or older people who were fans of this types of music when they were younger (for example, if they were fans of The Smiths).
We carried out an audience research survey to find out what demographic of people listen to indie pop music, and found out that over half of the people who did the survey either did or sometimes listened to indie pop. Most of these results were from girls aged 12-14, with some male, and some older females. This showed us that because the genre is more skewed towards girls, an aspirational female lead would really gratify the audience's expectations.
